Antennas Direct Partners with TV Stations to Inform Viewers About Antennas
St. Louis, Mo. (PRWEB) June 7, 2009 -- Deadline to the national DTV switch is just days away, but the saga of public confusion continues as millions of viewers struggle to understand why their free, over-the-air TV programming could go black after June 12. That's because a converter box is only part of the DTV story. The other part is the right antenna, but that story isn't widespread. That's why antenna manufacturer Antennas Direct partnered with broadcast stations nationwide on its Antennas NOW! Bus Tour to talk about the role antennas play in the DTV story.
During its nationwide bus tour, Antennas Direct visited over 30 television stations, traveled more than 22,000 miles and met thousands of consumers frustrated with their DTV reception. The Antennas NOW! Bus Tour educated consumers by providing tips for DTV reception, live demonstrations, and thousands of free DTV antennas (http://www.antennasdirect.com) to the general public.
For the past year, industry experts and elected officials have criticized the federal government for grossly underestimating the widespread public need for advanced antennas to receive over-the-air DTV and have since announced that many viewers may have to purchase a new antenna to pull in previously accessible stations. Vermont Sen. Bernard Sanders even suggested the federal government provide subsidies for this antenna replacement.
"People need to continue to receive essential news, sports, weather and other important local programming after the digital switch," said Antennas Direct President Richard Schneider. "And I want to help people understand what they need to know in order to get consistent and reliable digital television after the switch."
Through its Antennas NOW! Bus Tour, Antennas Direct (http://www.antennasdirect.com) was able to offer information on the behavioral characteristics of digital frequencies, aiming techniques and what to look for when purchasing a antenna for digital reception.
"Not everyone will need a new antenna to receive DTV," Schneider said, "but many people don't realize that they could get more channels using a better antenna."
